# Sheet Metal Fabrication for Construction

K-Display is a Chicago sheet metal fabricator that builds door sections, rolling-door hoods, operator and gate housings, dock covers, and equipment guards for door, access, and construction-equipment OEMs. Parts are cut, formed, and powder coated to your drawings, with hardware installed, and supplied loose or kitted.

## Overview
Overhead doors, gate operators, dock equipment, and construction machines put sheet metal around a curtain, a drive, a leveler, or an engine. K-Display cuts and forms door sections, rolling-door hoods, operator housings, dock covers, and machine guards from pre-galvanized sheet, installs the hardware, and powder coats each part. Sheet to ASTM A653 in G90 carries at least 0.90 oz/ft² of zinc, both sides combined, and G60 carries 0.60, so the designation you choose for construction sheet metal fabrication sets how much zinc lies under the powder coat.

## Process
- Cut and form the blanks: We laser cut or punch pre-galvanized and galvanneal sheet, then press brake form the bend angles and flange lengths.
- Fit hardware, mask, and powder coat: We install the hardware first, mask its threads and the mating faces, and then powder coat.
- Kit, label, and pack: We supply parts loose or kitted door by door, labeled by door model and packed for each release, with each kit listed against your bill of material.

## Typical parts
- Door section components: Formed panel parts, end stiles, and reinforcement channels for sectional doors, with the strut and hinge attachment holes for each door model.
- Rolling-door hoods, covers, and mounting plates: Formed hoods, guide covers, and bracket plates, with the hole pattern for the door's end brackets.
- Garage door brackets and plates: Formed brackets, mounting plates, and reinforcement parts, punched and bent to the orientation the door hardware needs.
- Operator and control housings: Housings, control boxes, and removable covers for door operators, with drive clearance and wiring entries.
- Gate and access-control enclosures: Pedestals, reader housings, and cabinets for vehicular gate operators and access-control equipment.
- Dock equipment covers and brackets: Covers, backing plates, and brackets for the makers of dock levelers, seals, and vehicle restraints, formed from galvanized sheet.
- Equipment guards, covers, and brackets: Light-gauge guards, engine and hydraulic covers, and mounting brackets for construction machines such as loaders and excavators.

## Requirements
- Galvanized coating designation: ASTM A653 designation, G60 or G90, or galvanneal, for each part.
- Thickness in decimals: Actual steel thickness as a decimal, not a gauge number, as DASMA advises, because a gauge number describes only the unembossed galvanized skin.
- Exposure: The sun, rain, salt, or wash conditions the part sees in service, which decide the powder coat system over the galvanized surface.
- Powder coat color and gloss: The color and gloss over the galvanized surface, with the faces that show in the installed door or machine.
- Mating geometry: Hole pattern, edge distance, and drawings of the parts each component joins, such as the end bracket a hood bolts to.
- Wind-load option: The wind-load option of each door model, which sets the struts and reinforcement channels.
