K-Display, a Chicago sheet metal fabricator, forms and welds bins, trays, dividers, and lids in carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum to your drawings. They ship bare, powder coated, or with handles, hinges, and latches installed.

## Overview
We form the body from sheet, fold the rims, and weld the corners, then add dividers, lids, and handles. Fixed dividers are welded to the body along their edges, and removable dividers lift out. We make bins in carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum, and they ship bare, powder coated, or with handles and latches installed. A bin that holds bulk material and discharges through an outlet is a hoppers, chutes & troughs part, and a bin that rolls on casters sits on an industrial carts & dollies frame.

## Process
- Cut the blank: We laser cut the body blank with its divider slots, drain holes, and handle openings.
- Fold and weld: We fold the rims and sides on the press brake, weld the corners, and weld the fixed dividers in.
- Fit hardware and coat: We install handles, studs, and lid hardware, mask the threads, and powder coat the bin, or leave it bare.

## Typical parts
- Formed bins and trays: Open-top bodies with folded rims and welded corners, made to the size of the parts they hold.
- Dividers and compartments: Fixed dividers welded to the body along their edges and removable dividers that lift out, to separate and locate the contents.
- Lids and closures: Hinged or lift-off lids, with latches and handles.
- Handles, rails, and feet: Carry handles, base rails, and feet that lift the bin and set it down level on a floor or a shelf.

## Design considerations
- Inside dimensions: Every fold, radius, and weld takes room from the inside, so a part sized to the outside envelope less the walls can still catch one of them. We size the body from the inside dimensions you send.
- Rims and corners: Parts and hands slide over the rim and the corners, and a cut edge or a weld bead marks the part and cuts the hand. We fold the rims and grind the corner welds smooth where the parts pass.
- Washdown and drainage: Water and cleaning residue stay in open seams and in the corners of a flat bottom, so a washed bin needs closed seams and holes that drain. We weld the body seams and fixed dividers closed, grind them flush, and cut drain holes through the bottom at the corners.
