K-Display, a Chicago sheet metal fabricator, makes pedestals, control cabinets, and keypad, reader, and intercom housings for vehicle gates from your cabinet drawings and device cutouts. Parts ship bare, powder coated, or assembled with hinges and latches installed.

## Overview
We build gate and access-control enclosures as the metalwork at a vehicle gate: pedestals with a post on a base plate, control cabinets with hinged doors, and keypad, reader, and intercom housings with removable faceplates. Faceplates, housings, and device plates start as flat blanks we cut and form in aluminum, carbon steel, galvanized steel, galvanneal, or stainless steel, and the post and cabinet seams are welded in aluminum, carbon steel, or stainless steel. Parts leave bare, powder coated, or assembled with hinges and latches installed. The housings and control boxes that mount on a door…

## Process
- Laser cut, then form: We laser cut the faceplate openings, panels, and base plates flat, then form the bodies and doors.
- Weld, dress, and fit hardware: We weld the post to its base plate and the cabinet seams, dress the welds and cut edges, and install hinges and latches.
- Coat and assemble: We powder coat the parts, then hang the doors and seat the faceplates and device plates.

## Typical parts
- Control cabinets: Bodies and hinged doors with component mounts and cable-entry holes.
- Keypad, reader, and intercom housings: Formed housings with removable faceplates, each carrying its device opening and attachment holes.
- Pedestals: A post on a base plate with a device housing on top, with holes for the anchor pattern and conduit.
- Internal device plates: Removable plates and brackets that hold the devices inside the cabinet or pedestal head.

## Design considerations
- Device geometry: A device fits its faceplate only when the opening, attachment holes, and rear clearance match that model. A plate laid out for a similar model leaves gaps.
- Field service: Replacing a component means opening the door in place. A door that meets the post or a wall never opens fully, so swing and hinge side decide whether a technician reaches the part.
- Weather and the NEMA type: An outdoor cabinet takes rain at every seam and entry. The NEMA type you name sets the gasket land, closure, and entry hardware, and a seam that misses its gasket land lets the rain in.
- Edges and welds: Coating thins on sharp edges and weld beads. On an outdoor post and faceplate those spots are where rust starts.
