K-Display, a Chicago sheet metal fabricator, forms side-column covers, header covers, access panels, and sensor brackets for high-performance industrial doors from your door drawings. The covers leave with latches and fasteners installed and powder coated.

## Overview
We make the fixed metalwork around a high-performance door: side-column covers over the columns at each side of the opening, header covers over the top, removable access panels, and the brackets that hold sensors. Covers and panels are formed from aluminum, carbon steel, galvanized, or galvanneal sheet, fitted with self-clinching fasteners and latches, and powder coated. Rolling steel doors, where the curtain coils into a hood, are rolling door components.

## Process
- Form the covers and brackets: We laser cut and form the covers, panels, and brackets on the press brake.
- Fit hardware: We install self-clinching fasteners and latches on the covers and access panels.
- Mask and coat: We mask each sensor bracket's mounting face, slots, and holes, then powder coat the set.

## Typical parts
- Side-column covers: Formed covers, in left and right pairs, over the columns at each side of the opening.
- Header covers: Formed covers over the header at the top of the opening.
- Service access panels: Removable panels with latches or fasteners, opening where the column or header is serviced.
- Sensor brackets: Formed brackets that fasten to the column and hold a sensor, with slots for its mounting screws.

## Design considerations
- Left and right hand: The two columns are mirror images, so the openings and flanges of their covers are opposite. A cover built to the wrong hand cannot be mounted on the other column.
- Cover removal: A cover lifts off the column past the frame beside it. A flange or latch that catches the frame keeps the cover on, and the service point behind it stays out of reach.
- Sensor aim: A sensor aims from the face of its bracket. A face bent a degree off swings the beam across a wide opening, so it misses its receiver on the far column.
