K-Display, a Chicago sheet metal fabricator, builds BESS cabinets, module trays and racks, EV charger cabinets, and inverter housings from customer drawings, with shelves, vent and cooling openings, and entry plates. They ship bare, powder coated, or with doors and hardware fitted.

## Overview
We build BESS cabinets with shelf and rail structures under the modules, and cut the vent, louver, fan, heat exchanger, and busbar openings. Panels are laser cut and formed in galvanneal, galvanized steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum, and the frame welds are carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum. Cabinets are powder coated, with studs, hinges, and latches installed, and leave the dock bare, coated, or with doors hung. We build the shell for an outdoor storage site, with gasketed doors and drip edges, as outdoor equipment cabinets.

## Process
- Cut the openings and rails: We laser cut the panels with their openings, shelf blanks, and rails, and form the returns.
- Weld the frame and shelves: We fit and weld the frame and shelves, choosing MIG or TIG for each joint.
- Mask, coat, and fit: We install studs and nuts, mask bonding points, threads, and gasket seats, powder coat, then fit hardware, entry plates, louver frames, and doors.

## Typical parts
- Battery and energy storage cabinets: Welded cabinets with module shelves and rails, retention and anchor features, doors, and removable panels.
- Module trays and battery racks: Formed trays and welded rack frames with mounting features, vent openings, and terminal access.
- EV charger cabinets: Cabinets with display and connector cutouts, cable management, and base entry.
- Inverter and converter housings: Covers, chassis, and housings with heat sink shrouds and airflow openings.
- Entry and interface plates: Busbar and cable entry plates, and louver and filter frames.

## Design considerations
- Module weight: Module weight loads the shelves, rails, and anchor pattern together, and weld distortion in rail spacing or shelf datum leaves a module that no longer seats.
- Vent, louver, and thermal openings: A cutout moves when the frame is welded around it, and an opening that has shifted no longer lines up with the fan, louver frame, or busbar it serves.
- Busbar and cable entries: Current crosses the wall at the entry plate, and a burr at a hole edge cuts an insulating bushing, gland, or barrier.
- Bonding points: Powder coat insulates, so a bonding or grounding point coated over breaks the ground path.
