K-Display in Chicago makes indoor cabinet bodies, doors with device cutouts, subpanels, and gland plates in steel, stainless steel, or aluminum from your drawings, and delivers them bare, powder coated, or assembled with the door hung and the hinges and latches installed.

## Overview
Indoor control cabinets, wall-mount or floor-standing, cut and formed from carbon steel, galvannealed steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, or aluminum. Each has a hinged door cut for disconnect handles, pilot lights, and an HMI, and a flat subpanel held on studs in the body. A cabinet leaves the dock bare, powder coated, or assembled with the door hung and the hinges and latches installed. Field wiring lands in the junction boxes we make, and an HMI moved off the door goes in an operator console.

## Process
- Cut and form: We laser cut the body, door, and subpanel, punch the device cutouts, and form the door returns and gasket lands.
- Weld and stud: We weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum bodies and hinge brackets, then install the studs and clinch nuts.
- Coat, then assemble: We powder coat the shell with the ground faces and stud threads masked, then hang the door, fit the latches, and set the subpanel for an assembled cabinet.

## Typical parts
- Wall-mount and floor-standing bodies: Formed or welded shells with door returns, gasket lands, and mounting feet or a floor base.
- Doors with device cutouts: Doors cut for disconnect handles, pilot lights, and HMI, with the hinge and latch mounting points.
- Subpanels: Flat mounting panels for the drives and relays, cut to the component layout.
- Gland plates: Removable plates punched for cable glands and conduit fittings.

## Design considerations
- Gasket land: A door seals only where the gasket land stays flat. Weld heat can bow a land or a door return, and the gasket then stays uncompressed at that spot.
- Subpanel and door clearance: Device depth, wire duct, and door-mounted devices share one interior. A device that clears with the door open can foul it closed, and the door then stops short of the body.
- Subpanel removal: A subpanel that slides out through the door opening can be wired on a bench. A fixed subpanel is wired inside the cabinet, where the door swing limits the room to work.
- Bonding faces: Powder covers every surface it reaches. A ground stud face left unmasked is coated, and a coated face does not make electrical contact.
