Custom Garage Door Components

Garage door components are the brackets and mounting plates that carry a sectional door's hinges and other hardware. K-Display laser cuts and forms them in aluminum, carbon steel, galvanized, or galvanneal sheet.

Garage door brackets and plates

We make the loose metal parts of a sectional garage door: brackets that carry the hinges and mounting plates that set each hardware position. Brackets and plates are laser cut from aluminum, carbon steel, galvanized, or galvanneal sheet, and the brackets are formed on the press brake. Self-clinching nuts and studs are installed, and the parts leave marked, bare or powder coated.

The skins and reinforcement channels of the section are sectional door panel components, and brackets and plates joined into one unit are door subassemblies.

A formed bracket with an orange flange, a flat plate with four holes, and a short channel, drawn as three separate parts.

The two holes in the orange flange take the hole spacing of the hinge that meets it. The plate's four holes follow a separate pattern, so each part is cut to its own hardware.

Garage door parts we make

Hinge brackets
Angle brackets with a flange that carries the hinge holes.
Slotted brackets
Angle and offset brackets with slotted holes where a hinge or other hardware needs adjustment.
Mounting plates
Flat plates laser cut with the hole pattern for the hardware and the section face.

Where the hardware can miss the bracket

Hardware revision
Two hinges of similar size can carry different hole spacing. A bracket cut to the wrong revision fits the section and misses the hinge.
Mirrored geometry
Left and right brackets are mirror images, with the flange on opposite edges. On the wrong side of the door, the holes miss the section.
Powder film
Powder adds thickness to every face it reaches, narrowing a slot and filling a thread. The hardware then binds or will not start.

Holes placed for the finished bracket

A hole in the flat blank has to land on its datum once the bend is made, so each blank is laid out from the formed drawing.

  1. Cut the flat blank

We laser cut the brackets and plates flat, holes included.

  2. Form and fit hardware

We form the brackets on the press brake, then install self-clinching nuts and studs.

  3. Mask, coat, and mark

We mask the slots and the nut and stud threads, powder coat the parts, and mark each one L or R.

Make left and right parts unmistakable

Mirrored brackets can look alike while placing their attachment faces on opposite sides. The drawing looks at the door from inside the garage, with each identifier matched to its installed position. State the viewing direction so left and right stay consistent across part drawings and assembly instructions.

Place identification where the assembly team can read it before fastening, clear of holes and mating faces. The illustrated L and R marks show the principle; the actual identifiers, marking method, and location should follow the released part drawings.

Mirrored sheet-metal brackets marked L and R, with opposite attachment flanges in orange. Dashed lines match each bracket to its position on the inside face of a garage door.

The opposite flange directions make these brackets a handed pair. Matching each mark to the view from inside the garage connects the loose part to its installed position before assembly begins.
