Single-Source Metal Fabrication
Full-service sheet metal fabrication takes a part from flat sheet to a finished, packed unit on one drawing package. K-Display builds enclosures, brackets, panels, and multi-part assemblies this way in Chicago.
What full-service sheet metal fabrication supplies
A full-service order supplies the finished assembly. An equipment enclosure arrives welded and powder coated, with its hardware pressed in, its cover fitted, its purchased components mounted, and the unit packed, in carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum.
OEM Sheet Metal Fabrication builds a released component again on each repeat order, and Sheet Metal Design & Drafting develops a sketch, a sample, or an existing file into the drawing package this work starts from.

Each drawing is a different part at the last operation it needs, from the cut panels at left to the enclosure with its cover screwed on at right.
Parts we build start to finish
Full-service fabrication suits a part that needs several processes before it can ship. Choose OEM sheet metal fabrication for a part whose drawing is released and returns on later orders, and design and drafting when the drawings are not ready.

The route from sheet to finished unit
Each bend is formed to leave room for the weld that follows it, so the torch reaches the joint.
Cut
We laser cut or punch the flat blanks, the cut pieces before bending, with their holes and slots, and stamp the parts that repeat.
Form
We form the blanks on a press brake into brackets, channels, and panels.
Weld
We arc weld frames and joints, MIG with a wire feed or TIG with a tungsten electrode, and spot weld overlapping steel sheet.
Finish
We press in threaded hardware, cover threads and bare faces, powder coat, and mark or label the finished surface.
Assemble
We fit hinges, latches, and purchased components to the cured parts, then pack the unit built or with its parts and bolts together.
Design for a full-service order
The assembly drawing and the bill of material set what is built, so a part listed on only one of them is missing or extra in the unit. We build the unit to the drawing and pack it to the bill.
Hardware named only in a note on the drawing's border can ship loose. Call each fastener out on the drawing at its location, and we press it in or fit it there, so the part arrives with the hardware installed.

Each corner flange carries a nut fixed to its underside, so the four screws thread down into the flange from above and the enclosure floor stays solid. A nut that ships with the enclosure means the cover goes on with a driver and nothing else.
